God of all compassion,

Receive us in our humility and brokenness before You
Strengthen those whose grieving hearts cry out to You
Shepherd us in mercy through this valley of tears
Unveil before all that the Lamb reigns supreme

In the place of destruction, pour out the full extent of Jesus' life
In the place of confusion and fear, be to us a wonderful, mighty Prince of Peace
In the place of mourning and despair, cover us with comfort and reassurance
In the midst of our great troubles, give us Christ's victory over all the terrors of Hell

As never before, awaken and sustain us as with the triumphant hope we have in You and in You alone.

With a spirit of urgency, we pray in confidence that
"You who spared not Your own Son but gave Him up freely for us all" will not fail to hear and answer us.

In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen

Dear God,

We join in prayer seeking comfort in our pain,
thanking you for this great country and surrendering its destiny to You.

We give thanks in our hearts for the founding of this country.
We give thanks for the souls who came before us
to found this nation, to nurture, protect, and save it.

We ask that Your spirit now fill our hearts with Your comfort.
May we play our parts in the healing
and the furtherance of our country which was founded on and by You.

May we be cleansed of all destructive thoughts.
May judgment of others, hatred, bigotry, racism,
and intolerance be washed clean from our hearts.

May our minds truly be filled with the thoughts of God,
His unconditional love and His mercy for His people.

May the beauty and the greatness of this land
burst forth once more in the hearts of its people.

May the dreams of our forefathers be realized in us,
that we might live in honesty, integrity and sincere love for each other.

May this country once again become a light unto the nations
of hope and goodness, peace and freedom.

May violence and darkness be cast out of our midst.
May hatred no longer find fertile ground in which to grow here.

May all of us feel God's grace upon us.
Reignite, dear God, the spirit of truth in our hearts.
May our nation be given a new light,
the sacred fire that once shone so bright from shore to shore.

May we be repaired
May we be renewed.
May our love of God return.

May we remember You always
Not only in the darkness and despair of these disastrous days
But in the peace and prosperity you will once again provide.

Dear God, please heal and bless America

Amen
It truly amazed me as I was searching sites, collecting prayers and being blessed by the prayers of people all over the world, that so many, over 90% had all been led by the Holy Spirit to the exact same verse -
II Chronicles 7:14.  This verse was spoken by God to a nation, the nation of Israel, when the temple built by King Solomon had been completed and dedicated to God, and when God Himself came and dwelt in it that He might dwell in the midst of His people.  His warning to that nation applies to America today.  It is not meant to hurt or offend, but to alert those who will take it to heart.  Of all the verses in the word of God, it is the most appropriate for this moment in time.

Even in this time of overwhelming sorrow, we must recognize and accept that great changes need to take place in the morality of this great nation and her people if she is to be half of what she was, and all that she can be.   The lawlessness and rampant immorality in every area of life in America breaks the heart of our Holy God, yet He has mercy and compassion for us still, and He will heal us, heal our individual hearts and lives, and the heart of this great nation.   How blessed indeed is America to know that level of perfect love!

Below are a collection of prayers - let your heart be comforted, and may your own heart be moved to seek God in this time of sorrow.
Prayer of an American

The nation was terroized on Tuesday by enemies of the unknown. But lets face it, we are terrorized everyday right here in our own cities and homes by our very own sisters and brothers. We are afraid to walk the streets, come in after dark, go into certain neighborhoods. We are killing our children, sisters, brothers, parents, and those who are trained to protect us. Where has the love for life gone?  If we would all consult the Manual for living (the Bible), this would be a much better place to live, and we would not have to worry about somthing happening like it did to our nation on Wednesday.  I know I am not quoting this corectly but, God says if we turn from our wicked ways, seek his face, then we will hear from Him and He will heal our land. Lets be still and wait on the Lord. God is still in the healing and blessing business, all we need to do is ask, believe and wait.
Prayer of a police officer

Father, I pray that those whose hearts are angry and devastated do not turn to crimes of hate towards our brothers and sisters in this nation.   As a police officer, I beg all of you to seek God and allow Him to heal your pain and trust that His will, will prevail.

Please remember that now more than ever, we need to come together as one nation, we cannot allow fear or hatred to tear apart this country any further.   We must do everything to emotionally and spiritually repair those that need us the most.

May God Bless all of you and pray for our enemies as well as those you hold close.

I pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, guide us in Your will. Amen.
Prayer from Mexico

Dear American friends and neighbors,

I'm a young woman who has family and friends in America.
And my heart has been touched by this tragedy.
When I started to see the scenes on TV, I was horrified.
You are a great nation, and you didn't deserve that.

I know that the relations between our countries sometimes are not the best,
but we are neighbors, and all of us are God's children.

SInce that moment until today, I have been praying for your beloved ones, for the firefighters, for the police, the army, for all the innocent and heroic people that died.

Nobody has the power to decide about other people's lives.  Only Our Lord has that power, so I wish for all of you all the BLESSINGS FORM ABOVE.

You are strong, brave and lion-hearted.  Nobody can defeat a country that always says IN GOD WE TRUST and means it.

On the contrary, God has given you an opportunity to trust in Him, to renew your FAITH, and take into consideration all the VALUES that are part of your country.

Thousands of Mexicans share your sorrow and your pain.

It's time for everybody to pray for PEACE and JUSTICE.

And YOU WILL BE COMFORTED AND RELIEVED...that's what the Lord says.

I wanted to express all that I think, and tell you that I admire your courage and your determination to be ONE, to be together in this hard moment with THE LORD AT YOUR SIDE.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL, GOD BLESS AMERICA
Dear Lord God,

May the hearts of the people who are filled with pain and anguish be filled with your peace, Lord and may the leaders of America, especially President George Bush will make the right decision.

In the wake of the attacks this week, we all have such a feeling of despair, which so easily leads to anger.   Lord, help this anger to give way to forgiveness, and a sense of direction to find a way through this tragedy.

Lord we pray for peace in America. We see today in the news of attacks on Muslim people in America, on Mosques being burned, of people from Middle Eastern countries living in America being harassed. Lord we ask for your protection on these people - they are innocent of the tragedy that has happened. We pray for those perpetrating these attacks - it is so easy in this time of anger and hurt to lash out at those nearest, we ask that you will bring calm and comfort to their hearts, so that they will not further the terror that has been seen this week.

We also pray for the world's leaders as they work out what to do next. We pray for wisdom, and for perseverance in pursuing the truth. Lord, guide the leaders of this world as they seek a way forward, a way to battle the terrorism that we have witnessed this week. We hear of countries preparing to launch an attach on Afghanistan. Lord, if this is necessary, we pray that it will not be done in a spirit of vengeance or retribution, for it is only you that can judge in this way. We pray that all options will be considered. It is the terrorists that we need to stop.

Lord, we pray for the people of Afghanistan - most of these people are not terrorists and do not support the actions that have taken place. They are an oppressed people, under the strict regime imposed by the Taliban. Lord you hear the hurt of these people. We pray that somehow your light may shine in Afghanistan, that even amidst the persecution there, people may come to know you, and see that you are the true Light, you are the way. Lord we pray that you will keep the innocent people in Afghanistan safe.

We pray for the Taliban government that they will review their policy of harboring terrorists.

We pray for bin Laden and all those in his circles. We cannot comprehend what has happened.  We ask that you will change their hearts.  We ask that your will be done in this world. Lord, we have seen what happens when man does his will - help this world to turn to you, and to seek your will.

We bring these prayers to you in Jesus name.  We ask that your will be done in this world.  Amen.
Thank you for your prayers..we've been inspired by the love and support of our friends all over the world. Prayer is what is needed most of all. We will not know in this lifetime how many other tragedies the world has been spared in our lifetime because of the prayers and daily sacrifices of those who have faith in the mercy of God.
Prayer from Singapore

As I was watching the "live" broadcast of "A Tribute to the Hero" (local time 900~1100hrs) alone at home in Singapore, a deep sense of a need to pray came upon me.  I knelt down before the Lord and I wept as I prayed for
the people and nation of America.

I want to let you know, God's presence is with you, America.  We are praying for you and we are with you in spirit.

United we stand !

Be bold and be strong for the Lord, thy God is with you.  No work of the enemy shall prosper !

Emmanuel ! God is with us !

God Bless America.

Prayer from an American

Chronicles 7:14 is ever present in my thoughts since the tragedy. Americans have been trying to fill themselves with various types of "pseudo spirituality" for several years.

"Lord, please, if some good is to come from the events of September 11, 2001, let it be that America will turn to you for their very reason to go on. Help us all to draw closer to you, to really know you, as we search for comfort and understanding.

"Embolden me, Lord, that I may desire to walk with you and invite others to share the walk. Work through me.

"Comfort the families who have lost loved ones, encourage the injured, sharpen the skills of those in the search and rescue, in intelligence operations, and those deployed for combat.

"Lord, soften hearts to your cause and give us all the strength and courage to go to battle for you.  Amen."
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

There are times when no words seem adequate to describe how we feel. But when we turn our eyes upon Jesus, we know that He knows exactly how we are feeling. And we trust in His words, the very words that He gave to us in the Bible.

Psalm 20 says ....
"...Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.  They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call...."

We trust in the name of the Lord our God. And I know He will answer us..

God Bless you.
THE BEST TRIBUTE...

As the soot and dirt and ash rained down,
We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building,
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope,
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno,
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long,
We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss,
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss,
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes,
We become one people.

We are:
One color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people

We are The Power of One. We are United. We are AMERICA.
Catching America's tears
God saves every tear in a bottle
Leave a prayer - God hears each one and answers in His way, in His time, in His perfectness
For those of you who think that not even God understands your pain, think on this:

God was willing to send His one and only child, His Son Jesus Christ, to this earth as a sacrifice for people - for you and me and for every soul who has ever lived.

Jesus was hated, despised, tortured, and cruelly killed in order to save you and me.

Yes, I would say that God knows and understands suffering.  Jesus went through the worst suffering imaginable for you.  He knows better than you the depth of despair and pain.  He is the author of agony .

But, because He triumphed over death and hell for us, we don't have to, and can instead have his comfort and His deep spiritual peace through any tragedy of life, if we will only seek Him and invite Him into our hearts and lives, acknowleging His supreme gift of eternal life for each of us.
